Hotel Update! by The Pioneer Woman

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I wanted to give you an update on the little hotel my boyfriend, I mean husband, I mean main squeeze and I have been working on. All the windows are in!

Unlike the windows at the merc, we had to replace the hotel’s old windows, as none of them was salvageable. But we tried to keep the style generally the same.

These oughtta hold in the heat a little more!

We have a new door, too.

It leads to the balcony, where guests can sit outside and enjoy the smalltown goings-on of Pawhuska, America. (This should be a lot of fun when we have street dances and other gatherings in town.)

We’re trying to leave as much of the murals exposed as possible.

They’re so cute. I love them.

So do the guys working on the project! Murals make people smile.

The electric and plumbing is just about done…

And they’ve been coffering the ceilings in the rooms!

Is coffering a verb? My red squiggly line says no.

Some dry wall is going up, too! We’re leaving as much brick wall exposed as we can as well, but there will be some regular walls here and there.

I’m excited about the progress, and what’s great is that we’ve pretty much worked through the finishing touches for each of the eight rooms in the hotel, from the bathroom tile to the furniture to the colors to the light fixtures. This is much different from projects I’ve done in the past, where I do nothing ahead of time and scramble to get things two weeks after I need them. Planning ahead—what a concept! Each of the eight rooms will be different, and it’ll be fun to see whether what’s in our mind will translate to what’s in the rooms.

We’ll know soon what our opening date will be, and as soon as we can commit to that, we’ll open the boarding house/bunk house/hotel/inn up for reservations. I think Marlboro Man and I might be the first in line. Thanksgiving weekend was crazy around our house, and we need a getaway. Ha!

Happy Monday, friends.

Love,
P-Widdy
