5 exercises for at-home reformer Pilates
Want to bring your Pilates sessions home with you? Here are five ways to bring some reformer moves into your home workouts.
If reformer Pilates sounds like your kind of deal, you better be prepared to part with a pretty penny. An hour-long private lesson can set you back hundreds of dollars, while group classes are still quite pricey. But for those without the watertight income, exercise physiologist Jennifer Smallridge and physiotherapist at Sportsmed biologic, Rebecca Huppert put together five spins on classic reformer moves to have you reaping all the benefits in the comfort of your own home:
1. Reformer lunges
This move is traditionally performed with one foot on the carriage, one foot on the stable platform, and the lunge pushes the carriage back (creating instability). This can be reproduced with XR Slides on a carpeted area (xrslide.com) by placing one foot on the ground and the back foot on the slide, lunging and then swapping sides. You could also use a book to gain the sliding motion.
2. Hands in straps – pullovers
Without a reformer, a resistance band can be wrapped around a steady object (table leg, tied tightly around a door handle). Lie with your body facing away from the band, ensure there is tension in the band, extend both arms up to the ceiling and pull the band down towards your sides while keeping your pelvis neutral. Challenges to this move include putting the legs up in tabletop, and/or adding an abdominal curl.
3. Leg press
This is one of the foundation moves in reformer Pilates. Without the footbar to put the feet on, you can lie on a mat and place your legs in tabletop, then try to keep the pelvis level as you tap one foot down on the mat at a time. You must engage your core muscles for this to be effective and safe. Add difficulty by straightening the leg each time it lowers, or lifting up the head and chest.
4. Reformer row
Again, wrapping a resistance band around a fixed object will allow a row type movement to be performed. The reformer works well by challenging the core, so to get the same benefits, stand on an unstable surface (BOSU, cushion, one leg stand) or complete a squat at the same time, with your core muscles active.
5. Scooter
This exercise involves one leg firmly on the floor and the other on the carriage, pushing it back against resistance and challenging the gluteal muscles on both sides. Without a reformer, arabesques are a nice way to work these muscles. Stand on one leg, hands on hips and lower your chest/lift your back leg at the same time, so that you feel it working all of the stabilisers of your stance leg. Rise up and repeat.

BASES DE LA PROMOCIÓN “Concurso Solares Avène”
La entidad mercantil StyleLovely Web, S.L. con domicilio social en Guzmán el Bueno 133, edificio Britannia. 28003 Madrid, y con CIF B86193315 (en adelante, “el ORGANIZADOR”) organiza un concurso en la web oficial de StyleLovely.com denominado “Concurso Solares Avène” (en adelante “la PROMOCIÓN”) la cual se desarrollará de conformidad con lo establecido en las presentes bases.
- ÁMBITO TEMPORAL Y TERRITORIAL DE LA PROMOCIÓN
1.1 La PROMOCIÓN se desarrollará dentro de la Península Ibérica y Baleares.
1.2. El PERÍODO PROMOCIONAL de cada concurso queda especificado en cada post.
- PARTICIPACIÓN
2.1. Podrán participar en la PROMOCIÓN todas aquellas personas físicas mayores de dieciocho (18) años y residentes en la Península Ibérica que lo deseen y que previamente a la participación sean seguidores de la cuenta de StyleLovely en Instagram (@stylelovelyweb) y de la cuenta de la marca colaboradora (@eauthermaleavenespain).
Los perfiles de Instagram de los participantes tendrán que ser de personas físicas (no asociaciones, ni organizaciones). El contenido tanto del perfil como él de su nombre, foto, biografía o link del propio perfil no serán inapropiados u ofensivos. En tal caso, quedaría excluido de participar en el concurso.
- GRATUIDAD
3.1. La participación en la PROMOCIÓN es gratuita.
- PREMIOS
4.1. Los premios de la PROMOCIÓN estarán especificados en el concurso. Serán descritos en el material promocional de cada acción, indicando su naturaleza y número de unidades. Estos premios son ofrecidos por marcas y empresas colaboradoras. Por tanto, sujetas a cambios de última hora por parte de las marcas y empresas colaboradoras. Cambios que StyleLovely no asume.
- MECÁNICA DE LA PROMOCIÓN
5.1. Los concursantes deberán registrarse y rellenar el formulario propuesto por StyleLovely.com en su sección “concursos”.
5.2. Cada participante sólo se podrá identificar con un único perfil de usuario.
5.3. El día 24 de julio de 2017 un jurado formado por el equipo creativo de StyleLovely.com determinará los ganadores de cada sorteo que serán elegidos de manera aleatoria.
5.6. Cualquiera de los ganadores podrá renunciar al premio, pero en ningún caso podrá canjearlo por otro distinto ni siquiera en la talla o color, ni por su valor en metálico.
- COMUNICACIÓN DEL GANADOR
6.1. El ORGANIZADOR se pondrá en contacto con el ganador por correo electrónico o mediante llamada de teléfono en el plazo de 48 horas a partir de la decisión del jurado para solicitarle expresamente la aceptación del premio y coordinar con él la entrega del mismo. Para establecer este contacto el ORGANIZADOR dispondrá de los datos de contacto comunicados por el participante. Si en el plazo de 48 horas desde la comunicación al ganador éste no respondiese aceptando expresamente el premio se entenderá que renuncia al mismo, pasando el premio al suplente correspondiente, en las mismas condiciones que en el caso del ganador original.
6.2. En caso de que una vez finalizada la PROMOCIÓN no hubiese sido posible realizar la entrega del premio al ganador original o, en su caso, a ninguno de los suplentes, el premio podrá declararse desierto, quedando a disposición del ORGANIZADOR.
- RESERVAS Y LIMITACIONES
7.1 El ORGANIZADOR queda exonerado de toda responsabilidad en caso de mal funcionamiento de las redes de comunicación electrónicas que impidan el normal desarrollo de la PROMOCIÓN por causas ajenas al mismo y especialmente por actos externos de mala fe.
7.2. Tampoco será responsable por los problemas de transmisión o pérdida de datos no imputables a las mismas.
7.3. Cualquier utilización abusiva o fraudulenta de la aplicación por parte de los participantes dará lugar a la consiguiente descalificación del participante en la PROMOCIÓN. Si dicho uso indebido de la aplicación (con o sin intención de fraude) provocara el mal funcionamiento de la misma, el ORGANIZADOR quedará exonerado de toda responsabilidad, pudiendo anular la PROMOCIÓN. Se entenderá, a título enunciativo pero no limitativo, que se produce abuso o fraude cuando un participante se identifique utilizando una identidad falsa o de un tercero sin su consentimiento.
7.4. El ORGANIZADOR no se responsabiliza de posibles pérdidas, deterioros, retrasos o cualquier otra circunstancia imputable a terceros que pudieran afectar a la participación en la PROMOCIÓN.
7.5. El ORGANIZADOR no se responsabiliza de posibles contenidos inapropiados u ofensivos, que los participantes por su cuenta y riesgo pudieran subir.
7.6. La constatación de cualquiera de estas circunstancias durante la PROMOCIÓN supondrá la descalificación automática y la prohibición de participar en la misma así como la pérdida del premio si se le hubiere otorgado en su caso.
7.7. El ORGANIZADOR queda eximido de cualquier responsabilidad en el supuesto de existir algún error en los datos facilitados por los propios participantes que impidiera su identificación.
7.8. La adjudicación del Premio es personal e intransferible.
7.9. El ORGANIZADOR se reserva el derecho a efectuar cambios que redunden en el buen fin de la PROMOCIÓN cuando concurra causa justa o motivos de fuerza mayor que impidan llevarla a término en la forma en que recogen las presentes bases.
7.10 El ORGANIZADOR quedará eximido de cualquier responsabilidad en el supuesto de que algunos de los productos cosméticos provoque algún tipo de intolerancia o reacción.
- DERECHOS DE IMAGEN Y DERECHOS DE PROPIEDAD INTELECTUAL
8.1. El ganador, por el simple hecho de participar, autoriza al ORGANIZADOR a reproducir, utilizar y difundir su nombre y apellidos en cualquier actividad publicitaria y/o promocional que esté relacionada con la PROMOCIÓN, todo ello en cualquier medio (incluyendo con carácter enunciativo, no limitativo, la explotación a través de Internet e Internet para telefonía móvil; redes sociales) sin que dichas actividades les confieran derecho de remuneración o beneficio alguno con excepción hecha de la entrega del premio ganado conforme a estas bases.
8.2. Los participantes ceden al ORGANIZADOR con carácter gratuito, universal y por tiempo indefinido, los derechos que por la creación de la frase con la que participan pudieran corresponderles.
8.3. El usuario que participa asume expresamente cualquier responsabilidad contraída con terceros por la realización y publicación en la web de dicha frase, en especial en lo relacionado con los derechos de propiedad intelectual que pudieran corresponderles a terceras personas que aparecieran en los textos sin su expreso consentimiento, eximiendo en todos los casos al ORGANIZADOR así como las empresas colaboradoras de cualquier reclamación al respecto.
- PROTECCIÓN DE DATOS
9.1. Los datos de los participantes en la PROMOCIÓN se tratarán conforme a las disposiciones de la Ley Orgánica 15/1999, de 13 de Diciembre de Protección de Datos de carácter personal (en adelante “LOPD”) y del Real Decreto 1720/2007, de 21 de diciembre, por el que se aprueba el Reglamento de Desarrollo de la Ley Orgánica 15/1999, de 13 de diciembre, de protección de datos de carácter personal (en adelante “RDLOPD”).
9.2. El ORGANIZADOR establecerá las medidas de índole técnica y organizativas necesarias para garantizar la seguridad que deben reunir los ficheros automatizados, los centros de tratamiento, locales, equipos, sistemas, programas y personas que intervengan en el tratamiento automatizado de los datos de carácter personal en la forma legal y reglamentariamente prevista.
9.3. Los participantes podrán ejercitar en cualquier momento, los derechos de acceso, rectificación, cancelación u oposición previstos en la LOPD. C/ Guzmán El Bueno, 133. 28003-Madrid, indicando la petición en que se concreta la solicitud.
10.- ASPECTOS FISCALES
De conformidad con la normativa del Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, (IRPF) los premios concedidos por la participación en juegos, concursos, rifas, o combinaciones aleatorias vinculadas a la venta o promoción de bienes o servicios están sujetos a retención o ingreso a cuenta siempre que el valor del premio sea superior a 300 euros. En todo caso corresponderá a la entidad StyleLovely Web, S.L.. la realización del ingreso a cuenta o la práctica de la retención procedente, y al ganador la declaración correspondiente en su IRPF. Además, será necesario para realizar la entrega de cualquier premio con cuantía superior a 300 Euros, que el ganador firme la comunicación del importe del premio y su correspondiente retención a cuenta, a los efectos del IRPF o cualquier otra obligación que la Administración Tributaria imponga. La negativa a firmar dicho documento o a cumplimentar dichas obligaciones, supondrá la pérdida del premio para el ganador, quedando éste desierto.

La nueva campaña Pre Fall 2017 de Zara mujer
La firma de moda Zara mujer o woman acaba de presentar su nueva campaña Pre Fall 2017 City Lights, para la temporada de cambios de estaciones y francamente nos ha sorprendido.
La firma de moda se aleja de las clásicas propuestas infalibles y apuesta por mezclas de estampados bastante arriesgadas, cortes y formas geométricas como los abrigos cocoon, los drapeados, fruncidos inesperados y cortes desiguales.
Sin duda que la nueva campaña de Zara mujer respira aires de los años 70 tanto en texturas, ya que volvemos a ver el terciopelo en las prendas como en los estampados de rayas y las botas de tacón de color, super altas y de tejidos suaves.

En general tengo que confesar que la campaña de Zara me ha sorprendido por lo arriesgada y alejada de lo que hemos estado viendo últimamente de la firma, especialmente con las formas cocoon y con los vestidos fruncidos, aunque este tipo de vestidos los llevamos viendo en numerosas firmas de moda para el próximo Otoño 2017 así que no hay que descartarlos como tendencia.
De las nuevas propuestas de Zara mujer me quedo sin dudarlo con la trench clásica y con los abrigos tipo gabardina super largos y de corte muy recto que siempre me han parecido tremendamente elegantes. Las nuevas prendas ya están disponible en su tienda oline.

Here’s the thing: I really don’t like oatmeal. As many times as my husband tried to doctor up a bowl of oatmeal for me, complete with maple syrup, nuts and fruit, I just couldn’t get on board with the texture. I thought all was lost to me on the oatmeal front. That is, until I tasted baked oatmeal.
Perhaps it’s because the texture reminded me of an oatmeal cookie, or maybe it was the glorious caramelized top that forms when maple syrup or honey-spiked oatmeal is baked for nearly an hour. Either way, baked oatmeal was the vehicle that drove me straight to the land of oatmeal lovers.
Baked oatmeal lends itself to as many variations as your pantry and imagination will allow, and I’ll share some of my favorites later. Nuts, spices, dried and fresh fruit, and chocolate (yes!) can be added in a multitude of combinations to satisfy your breakfast cravings.
On top of its versatility, baked oatmeal is fantastic for quick, easy breakfasts. Bake a batch on Sunday, then refrigerate the oatmeal. In the morning, portion out a square of the oatmeal and heat it in the microwave. Top with extra maple syrup, nuts and fruit to your heart’s desire.
Let’s dive into the basic formula for making baked oatmeal.
The oats:
When it comes to the main building block of baked oatmeal, there are a couple of options. Regular old-fashioned oats work well and take slightly less time to cook. The other option is steel cut oats, which happens to be my preference because of the nutty taste and chewier texture. Steel cut oats take slightly longer to cook, so take that into account when preparing baked oatmeal.
The spices:
When I think of oatmeal, cinnamon is the first spice that comes to mind. While cinnamon is a wonderful warming spice for breakfast time, don’t stop there! Play around with other spices, such as ground ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves and allspice. A chai blend of spices is one of my favorite ways to start the day.
The liquid:
Regular milk, from nonfat to whole, does the trick. However, if you follow a dairy-free diet or are looking for a slightly different flavor, swap the milk out with any of the dairy-free options out there, such as almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk or even an almond coconut blend.
The sweetener:
Brown sugar is often a favorite of oatmeal lovers, but there are several other options. I usually opt for maple syrup or honey, but there are many other sweeteners available that would work in baked oatmeal, depending on your taste preferences and dietary needs.
The binder and the fat:
For an 8- by 8-inch dish of baked oatmeal, one egg will do the trick to hold everything together. If you follow a vegan diet, flax eggs (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal, plus 3 tablespoons water) can be substituted.
As with any good baking recipe, a little fat is always a good thing. While I used melted and cooled coconut oil in the recipe below, unsalted butter is a more traditional option.
The mix-ins:
This is where you can let your imagination run wild! Fresh berries, dried fruit, chopped apple, nuts (toasted or raw), dark chocolate, cocoa powder, coconut … the list goes on and on. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite! Here are a few suggestions:
Variation #1:
Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits to bake with because their flavor and color infuses every part of the oatmeal. Add 1 cup of fresh blueberries, a handful of raw pepitas or nuts and a teaspoon of ground ginger. See the full recipe below.
Variation #2:
Chocolate and cherries is always a magical combination! Mix cocoa powder into the oat mixture or add chopped dark chocolate later, along with fresh or dried cherries.
Variation #3:
You can never go wrong with apples and cinnamon. Dice the apples and mix them into the batter or cut the apples into rings and place them on top of the oatmeal before baking. Add walnuts or pecans for some extra crunch.
Variation #4:
Because I can’t get enough of cherries, it only seemed right to add another variation. Combine fresh or frozen cherries with unsweetened coconut flakes for baked oatmeal that tastes like dessert.
Variation #5:
I can’t talk about a classic breakfast dish without mentioning bananas! Mix strawberries into the oatmeal and top with banana slices. Add dark chocolate chunks for another layer of flavor, if you wish.
Baked oatmeal is a fantastic make-ahead breakfast, and you can easily customize it with your favorite fruits, nuts and spices. It’s a healthy, tasty way to start the day!
