Can you believe that Christmas is almost upon us?!
Each year, I like to find ways to get myself in the mood for Christmas. It helps to slow things down so I can enjoy the little moments and memories. Otherwise this season just rushes on by.
What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with this yummy gingerbread latte? Let me show you how easy it is to make!
You only need a few simple ingredients for the syrup: molasses, water, a few spices, and vanilla extract. Simply bring all but the vanilla to a boil (stir that in at the end). You can strain the syrup through cheesecloth for a smoother end product, but I find that it isn’t necessary. Or maybe I’m just too lazy?
To make the latte, add a tablespoon or so of the syrup to your favorite mug.
Pour in some espresso or really strong coffee.
Next, add some frothed milk. Don’t worry if you don’t own an espresso maker with a steam frother—check out my tutorial for 8 ways to froth milk without a machine!
I think half-and-half is the only way to go here. It’s so rich and creamy! It’s the holidays. You deserve a treat.
A dollop of whipped cream just takes it to the next level. An extra drizzle of the syrup makes it all fancy.
Serve with gingerbread cookies for maximum gingerbread consumption.
You can make this kid-friendly by leaving out the coffee. I actually think you get a stronger gingerbread flavor this way, since the coffee isn’t competing with the syrup. So if you want gingerbread-flavored coffee, go for the original recipe, and if you want it to taste like you’re drinking a gingerbread cookie, leave out the coffee. Both are lovely!
Turn on some Christmas music, make yourself a mug of this delicious Gingerbread Latte, and sit back and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!
