If there’s ever an occasion for a cocktail, it has to be New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. Champagne is nice, but a cocktail makes a statement. I think the statement is, “Ooh-la-la.”
Break out the party hats and noisemakers—we’re making a cocktail!
This beautiful drink starts with St. Germain, an elderflower liqueur. The bottle is so, so gorgeous. I feel like it should be on display in my house. Would that be weird? St. Germain is a lovely, lightly sweet liqueur that tastes floral and a little fruity. I get a definite pear vibe here. It’s not heavy or overly sweet.
Paired with orange juice and Cointreau, this cocktail is both sunny and cheerful in color and taste. Just the ticket for beginning a new year.
To start, rim each glass with orange juice.
Dip in sanding sugar.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add orange juice, St. Germain, Cointreau, and vodka. Shake well and strain into the prepared glasses. This recipe will make 2 to 3 cocktails depending on the size of your glasses.
Top each with an orange slice.
Cheers and happy 2018!
