I saw “A Star is Born” with Ladd. Yes, with Ladd. I repeat: with Ladd.
I was blown away by Lady GaGa’s talent, by Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of a struggling addict, and by the chemistry between the two.
And they’re both fun to look at.
And I am madly in love with their house in the movie. It’s sort of a mid-century nest in the woods. I need more information about that house. It made me feel cozy and evoked very positive feelings.
And Lady GaGa’s talent. I mean…what a voice.
(Warning: The movie is sad.)
(When I walked out of the theater, all I heard were sniffs.)
I’ll tell you what’s not sad, though: The Merc! We had a fun weekend there…
And at the Lodge, where we’re having tours for several days this month!
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years since The Merc opened. Since then, we’ve also opened The Boarding House and P-Town Pizza, and it’s fun now that the building and renovation are finished and we can really dig in and concentrate on making sure the chicken fried steak is awesome, the pizza is mouthwatering, and the pillows are fluffed.
And taking a nap.
This is Bryce and his buddies. He is having a fun sophomore year of football and friends, and I’m going to savor this in the same way I savored the beginning of Paige’s sophomore year, which seemed to fly by in four seconds, followed by her junior year, which seemed to fly by in three seconds, followed by her senior year, which seemed to fly by in two seconds…
And now she’s in college.
You see where I’m going with this.
The thought of Bryce going to college. NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
And Todd? Nope. Fugettaboutit. No can do.
Someone change the subject.
I’ll end with a stream-of-consiousness speed round:
1. It’s amazing how long I could go, if I could clear my schedule entirely, before I ever felt the urge to leave my house. I’m thinking weeks. How about you? I love being home.
2. I’ve started wearing nude matte lipstick. I like it but that whole matte business is so dry! I wind up putting lip balm over it, which totally negates the matte part of it. So I guess I’ve started wearing nude lipstick.
3. I had a dream last night that Ladd was leaving on a spaceship, and that he had put diesel in the spaceship instead of whatever fuel spaceships are supposed to use. I had to say goodbye to him before his space flight, and I was very sad because I knew he was going to have car trouble, I mean spaceship trouble, and I might not see him again.
ANALYZE THAT!
4. I got a rowing machine and I have started rowing while listening to crime podcasts or watching documentaries about epidemics. I don’t let myself listen or watch these any other time, and there have been times I haven’t wanted to stop exercising because I want to keep listening. Just a little exercise tip for those of you who are gluttons like me and choose to listen to upsetting things.
5. I’m working on my new cookbook, which will be out next year. Please send me more upsetting podcasts, because my waistline is going to need them…
