Looking for a way to get your family to drink their milk?
Milk is a great source of vitamins and protein. It makes a wonderful quick snack when your tummy is growling, but you don’t have time to sit down and eat.
If you find your family has lost interest in drinking their daily glass of milk, flavored milk is a great way to get your kids excited about milk again!
Whether you drink cow’s milk, almond milk, or some other variety of milk, you can give these beverages a tantalizing flavor without an overwhelming dose of unnecessary sugar.
We all know the method of stirring chocolate syrup into milk for classic chocolate milk. Why not kick things up a notch with these tasty tricks?
Fruit Flavored Milks
For sweet fruity milk, place 1 cup milk in the blender with 2 tablespoons fruit jam. Puree and enjoy!
For a slightly less sweet fruity milk, puree 1 cup milk with ¼ cup frozen fruit.
You can use any variety of fruit jam or frozen fruit you like. My personal favorites are blueberry milk and mango milk!
Spiced Milks
Use spices, and even herbs, to take your milk to new levels of dairy goodness.
Cinnamon Oat Milk: Try pureeing 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 ½ tablespoons old fashioned oats into 1 cup of milk for a hearty milk that has a similar appeal to Mexican horchata.
Lavender Honey Milk: Puree 1 teaspoon lavender buds and 1 tablespoon honey with 1 cup milk for an elegant floral infused milk.
Pumpkin Spice Milk: Blend 1 ½ tablespoons of pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon honey, ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and 1 cup milk for a festive fall treat!
Combination Milks
Can’t decide between fruit, spices, or other favorite add-ins? Mix them up—in the blender of course!
Peanut Butter Banana Milk:
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon peanut butter
¼ fresh or frozen banana
Blackberry Pie Milk:
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons blackberry jam
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon old fashioned oats
Strawberry Basil Milk:
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons strawberry jam
4 fresh basil leaves
Chocolate Milk with a Twist
Can’t get away from your nostalgic favorite? That’s ok. Give your chocolate milk a lift by adding in:
- Peanut Butter
- Peppermint Extract
- Orange Extract
- Shredded Coconut
- Caramel
- Berries
Use as much or as little as you like!
