Full Heart, Heavy Heart by The Pioneer Woman

Full Heart, Heavy Heart by The Pioneer Woman

We’ve been slowly working on a new restoration project in Pawhuska, also known these days as P-Town.

Several things are going on outside…

But what’s even more exciting is what’s going on inside. Okay, so this photo isn’t very exciting. In fact, it kind of gives me nightmares.

It reminds me of the early days of restoration at The Merc!

And this also reminds me of the Merc: Look what was discovered under the plaster wall this week!

“Don’t be a stomach grouch.” Haha! I can’t wait to see what the remedy for a grouchy stomach is. We think it’ll be visible when we uncover the plaster on the second floor.

Paige’s birthday is today. I snapped this photo of her before she headed out the door to spend the day with her friend Stanton.

She’s eighteen. Which means she’s no longer two, which means I’m about to cry. I took her breakfast in bed this morning. I delivered her bacon, eggs, fruit, granola, and I stuck a curly candle in her yogurt parfait. Ha.

Life goes on here in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. But I can’t get Texas and Louisiana out of my head—and I don’t think I should. My continual prayers are with everyone who has been affected, injured, or displaced by Hurricane Harvey. The images and videos have been heartbreaking, and I just can’t wrap my head around the challenges that lie ahead for so many people.

I posted on Facebook about some of the places I have found to support, thanks to conversations I’ve had with friends in Houston. Here are some good organizations worth looking into. They will be equipped to help, both now and down the line when floodwaters recede.

Greater Houston Community Foundation – Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
Houston Food Bank
BakerRipley
Samaritan’s Purse
Catholic Charities USA
Houston Humane Society

God bless everyone who has been hurt by this hurricane. I pray that healing, wholeness, and restoration arrive very quickly. You are all loved.

Love,
P-Dub
