Notes from Home by The Pioneer Woman

Notes from Home by The Pioneer Woman

I have to start with Lucy Girl! After a busy week, I took a gloriously long walk with the dogs and about a mile into it, I noticed that Heaven was following Lucy around and lighting up her already-joyful face. I love my dang dogs.

When I was traveling for my cookbook last week, I encountered this couple buying coffee in the Nashville airport! I had just been thinking about the fact that my team was going to be playing Marlboro Man’s team on Saturday…then lo and behold, here this couple was.

And I realized that Marlboro Man and I will never have the joy of dressing together like this because our teams are Pac 12 rivals.

I would love to see Marlboro Man in USC socks! Maybe when he’s sleeping someday…

I had a great time on The Chew last week! Here are the clips if you missed it. Those guys are very nice!

If I look a little tired, it’s because I was a little tired. Ha.

And here’s my Good Morning America appearance in case you missed it! (This post is more for my mom than anyone else. Hi, Mom!)

Okay, enough of that! I had a couple of days of rest, a walk with the dogs, a true crime podcast, and The Walking Dead, so I’m a new woman!

I actually snapped this selfie at my hotel in New York because I wanted to send it to Marlboro Man with an “I miss you” message (which actually looked like something along the lines of “I miss your muscles”) but also because I wanted to show him that I love the purse he and Bryce bought me at a new store in Pawhuska (Salt Creek Marketplace.) I thought they did such a good job picking it out, and I loved that it came from a local merchant.

Go, Pawhuska!

I started with Lucy and I’m ending with Lucy, because I’m so glad to be home. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have to travel and meet so many wonderfully kind people at my book signings. It’s something I cherish and appreciate, and after every book signing I thank God for each person who has crossed my path! And then coming home…it’s a blessing all its own. Just being able to settle back into a routine, to exhale, to not brush my hair (ha)…I love it!

So here’s what else is in my brain this morning:

Hamilton. We need to talk. I can’t handle the impact it’s making on my life. More on this later.

Cheese. We need to talk. I can’t handle the impact it’s making on my life. More on this later.

Kidding. No I’m not.

Merc Wrapping Paper! We’re selling it in rolls now. It’s purty and it’s floral!

Paige’s college. She has applied to four, heard from three, and waiting to hear from the fourth. I love the school options she has, but I can’t shake this needling thought that she needs to do a wild card application—some kind of hail Mary pass—and I’m trying to discern whether this is just a mom wanting to make her child’s options as wide as possible, or whether it’s some mystical urging that I really need to push and follow through on. Welcome to the magical mystery of motherhood!

Hamilton biography by Chernow. I have it. It’s 750 pages, give or take. I’m on page 11. I don’t think I’m cut out for this, but I’m going to keep going forward and acting like I read things like this all the time. Haha.

Thank you for letting me share!
