That’s Normal, Right? by The Pioneer Woman

I went to see Alex last weekend! I had to be in Texas for a meeting, and I jumped at the chance to be with a female. And not just any female! A female I birthed from my loins! (Can you tell I live in a man cave?) I didn’t get a photo of Alex, but I did get a photo of this crepe we shared in College Station. It was a chicken carbonara crepe and it was a treat!

Then when I got home from College Station, Paige was home. She’d come home to watch Bryce’s football game the night before, which Alex and I had listened to on the radio. Seeing both my girls within the same 24 hour period is the secret to my happiness.

It has been raining for a month in Oklahoma. Our ponds are full.

Amen.

P-Town Pizza is going great! It’s turned into a nice spot for locals and a nice spot for me to eat fried balls of dough.

And speaking of fried balls of dough…here they are. We call them Not Knots at P-Town, because they’re garlic knots that aren’t actually knotted. I shot them for my new cookbook, which I kicked off this week. Which means I need to get on the rowing machine daily for the next six months.

I haven’t even told you about my rowing machine adventures. Another story for another time…

I’m very excited about my new cookbook. It won’t be out until this time next year, but it feels so good to have such a nice, solid start. I feel great about the concept! I love the recipes! I have food residue in my camera buttons!

I need to buy more Q-tips.

My Food Network show tomorrow morning is brand new, and it’s a freezer show (one of my favorite categories of shows)—with a breakfast spin! Everything is a make-ahead breakfast item, and everything goes in the freezer for another time. Check and CHECK!

This sign on our ranch was built the same year “It’s a Wonderful Life” launched in theaters. Just thought you’d enjoy that little tidbit.

Thought you’d like to see this little Cowboy-Basset moment. Henry is definitely part of our family and he reminds us so much of Charlie. In fact (I’m sorry if I’ve already told you this), I’m convinced Charlie is in there somewhere. When no one is watching, I’ll lean down, lift up Henry’s ear, and whisper “Charlie. It’s Mama. I just wanted you to know I know you’re there. I love you.”

That’s normal, right?

Great. I thought so.

Lots of love,
P-Widdy
