Pancake Day! by PW Food & Friends

Call it Pancake Day or call it Shrove Tuesday, we’re all for anything that gives us a reason to eat more pancakes—pancakes for breakfast, as a snack, pancakes for dinner, with the occasional waffle and crepe thrown in. They make the best breakfast-in-bed treats, too!

We have our share of mouthwatering recipes from our incredible contributors, so if you’re looking for some inspiration, we put together a handful of picks for you!

Best Tips for Making Pancakes

Best Tips for Making Pancakes. First, let’s get the basics down. Whatever recipe you use, it always helps to be armed with a few great tips to ensure pancake success. As a bonus, Joanne includes her favorite recipe for fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Score!

Elevating Pancake Mix. There’s no shame in using store-bought pancake mix. Want to kick things up a notch? Add-ins, mix-ins, and sprinkle-ons are the key to creating killer flavor combinations.

Banana Bread Griddle Cakes. Thick pancakes chock full of bananas and toasted walnuts, topped with caramelized banana-walnut caramel sauce. You won’t believe these are gluten-free and vegan!

Peach Dutch Baby. Also known as “oven pancakes,” these German pancakes puff up beautifully as they cook. Erica’s recipe works well with gluten-free flour, and in a pinch, will even work with no flour at all! (We think they should be called “magic pancakes” instead.)

Hot Chocolate Pancakes. A double dose of chocolate and a hint of cinnamon make these pancakes taste like a decadent cup of hot chocolate. Speaking of decadence, did we mention the double dose of marshmallows too?

Apple Spiced Pancakes. Pancakes with apples, cinnamon, and ginger, perfect for chilly winter mornings.

Gluten-free and Grain-free Waffles. We’re including these waffles because they’re equal parts delicious and genius. Waffles with absolutely no flour at all! No oat flour, grain flour, nut flour, bean flour, or arrowroot. Just one surprising ingredient that miraculously acts like flour. Intrigued? So were we!

How to Make Apple Cider Syrup. A super simple way to make those pancakes extra special. You’re just four ingredients away from this homemade alternative to maple syrup!

How to Make Compound Butter . Compound butter isn’t just for fish or steak! Dara shows us the basic way to make it, then shares 6 recipes, including a few sweet versions that are perfect for spreading on pancakes. Cinnamon maple butter, anyone?

How to Freeze and Reheat Pancakes. If you end up making too many pancakes this week (it’s okay, you can say it’s our fault), here are some freezing tips so you can preserve your stash and reheat them whenever you want!

Pancakes are hard to mess up, and even when not perfect, they’re still very good. But when done right? They’re simply divine.

We hope these posts help you with your pancake game this week. Do you have any favorite flavors or tips to share? We’d love to hear them!
