I have a pretty healthy self esteem, but through the years have battled with a complex about my double chin. Especially my profile. And now that I’ve been a runner for 17 years, I have jowls too! Sigh. But I try to remind myself that there are more important issues in the world and if that’s my biggest problem, I’m doing alright! Still, don’t think I don’t contour it every day within an inch of its life! There are tricks I learned years ago in makeup school that have stayed with me. Like, when you shade your jawline, don’t sweep it along the whole area from your chin to your earlobe, because in between jowls and your chin there are already indentations that look more pronounced if shaded more. So you start where the jowls are, not at the chin, and go upward from there, then go back and double shade over just the jowls (sorry, every time I even write that word I cringe!). Then lift the chin up and shade where a double chin might hang. I didn’t use myself as a model to spare you all and used a real model who doesn’t have my problems, but you can get the gist of the techniques.
